Hi Kids!
This is it! We got finishers, more prizes, so let’s get right to it, shall we?
Once again, Aliina finished first, and here she is. I asked her to smile and she gave me varying degrees of insane grins, right up to this…
She chose as her prize, a Twin Suns gift certificate
Once again, she’s requested that I give it a title, like we did several years ago, when she created “Artichoke”, so I have christened it “Unsettling” based on the picture above… It’s been a long day…
Then, like 20 minutes later, Mark finished with his “The Best Vaycay Ever!” subtitled, “DON’T LET IT GO TO YOUR HEAD”, which is a relevant clue you’ll get after you read it’s twisty ending… Look for it along side his other 24 Hour Comic, “Phlliam B. Morris at the Circus”, coming soon to a 7000 B.C. comic sales table near you. I might also add that Mark did not know what he wanted to do when he walked in the door, in the best 24 Hour Comics Day tradition (actually, it’s in the rules, as much as we go by rules, heh-heh…), he and I brainstormed for about an hour, “So, I think I’ll make it about an alien, but what will he be doing?” Then, a few minutes later, he exclaimed, “Vacation! That’s it! He’ll be on vacation!” I’ll stop there, lest I give away too many spoilers, but it really is a fun read.
Mark chose as his prize for finishing, an Age of Comics gift certificate.
And then, last but not least, Antonio finished. Of course, by this time we are all so fried from the past 24 hours, that I really don’t remember much about Antonio’s comic, as he was in a hurry to flee. I don’t even remember if he chose a prize…
Oh well…
So that’s it. Another 24 Hours From Q-Town in the can, completed, finished, the end.
But not before another shout out to all of our fine sponsors, without whom, 24 Hour Comics Day would not be possible, or at least nowhere near as cool as it was, with their prizes, coffee, and support.
Thanks again to our oldest supporter of coffee and hot water for tea (lotta tea drinkers this year), Winning Coffee Co.
Should you find yourself in the University area, specifically in the vicinity of 111 Harvard SE, drop in, say “Hi” to Sandy and the crew, and tell ’em that guy from 7000 B.C. that does the 24 Hour Comics blog, sent you. Be sure to buy something from their delicious selection of baked goods, soups, sandwiches, and delicious coffee (and tea), and other fine beverages. Check out the local arts gallery, too.
And if you’re on the east side of town, somewhere around 1016 Juan Tabo NE, Suite D, make sure you go see Henry, Sean, and the rest of the gang at Lobo Anime & Comics, who were kind enough to contribute 3 $10 gift certificates.
Thanks again to our pals, Astro-Zombies, at 3100 Central SE, for the $10 gift certificate, and my ALL STAR WINNERS vintage comic collection.
Way over on the west side of town are Josh and Drew, the twin sons of Twin Suns Comic Books and Game Center, at 6301 Riverside Plaza NW Ste L-1, who also donated 3 $10 gift certificates.
Our friend Margaret at Old West Comics & Games, whose generosity was overwhelming! See Hour 8 for details…
Matt and Greg at Age of Comics, who donated 3 $10 gift certificates and 4 posters.
And finally, Jim Lynch of WonderFunders, who not only donated 2 $25 SHARED UNIVERSE gift certificates, bought us pizza from Giovanni’s, helped out by working the final shift of the event, but who also rented the chairs that we all sat on! Thank you so much Jim! As always, you really went the extra mile for us!
That’s all folks! See you next year?
Be Well,
Your pal,
Chuck
Z-z-z-z-z…
And somewhere during, we lost Matt and Melody. Bye Kids… I hope they send me pics of their comics, finished or not. I’m really curious about Matt’s screaming mushrooms, and Melody’s witches. I’ll email them and see if we can get some closure, and then I’ll let you know what I find out as a post post…
Good Morning,
Your pal,
Chuck
Hi Kids!
It’s getting late and I ain’t as young as I used to be, so I’m posting these progress pics and then taking a nap…
Aliina
Mike. Looks like Hannah’s in a tight spot!
Antonio. Still not sure what’s going on here…
Mark. Still a mystery.
Matt. Something about screaming mushrooms?
Melody.Looks like witches abound with those broomsticks…
That’s it for HOUR 13.
See when I awake…
Your pal,
Chuck

Hi Kids!
The final raffles went off and here are the winners:
Joey turned out to be a big winner, with a copy of The Submariner hardcover graphic novel from Lobo Anime & Comics, and a copy of Jeff’s former 24 Hour Comic, Nance & Cianu at the Park, when Jeff drew his own name. Joey was first to speak up, so Jeff gave it to him (and graced the cover with his autograph).
Next, we had Kayla winning the final Star Trek SkeleTrek figure, BORG DRONE from Comic Warehouse.
And finally, Anna won the final prize, a hardcover graphic novel, “Transformers: Primal Scream” from Lobo Anime & Comics.
Next stop: The real END…
Your pal,
Chuck
