Do you want to help plan for next year’s event?

Hey Everyone –

I hope you all had a fun and productive event!

We want to get an early start for next year’s event.    We currently have a six person 24-Hour Comics Day Planning Committee.

If you are interested in helping to plan for next year’s event, please email me a paragraph explaining who you are, what your experience is with 24-Hour Comics Day, and the skills you could bring.

We want this day to continue growing and becoming bigger and better.    The only requirement is that you have a Facebook account …. we do all our discussions on a private Facebook group.

Please email me (Marco) at marco@comicspro.org.

Online Participants – Remember to post your progress

Online participants:   If you haven’t found a place to post the progress of your Challenge, please consider posting on the Ironhand Facebook Page   https://www.facebook.com/ironhandcomics   Or you can post on this page as well.     If you post on the Ironhand Facebook page, the folks at Blitz comics ask you to register here:  http://goo.gl/sI9sTH so that they can track your progress.

Over 70 venues participating!

24-Hour Comics Day is this Saturday ….. the 4th of October.   And over 70 venues are participating …. from 16 different countries …. and 4 different continents.   It is truly an international event!

A few years ago, the 24-Hour Comics Day planning committee decided to set the event date as the first Saturday in October.    This was done to standardize the event and help people with their planning.  Unfortunately, sometimes this can cause conflicts.  This year, for example, 24-Hour Comics Day falls on Yom Kippur – one of the holiest days of the Jewish tradition.

If you can’t participate this Saturday, please realize that you can participate on another day ….. as long as it’s fairly close to the 4th.    Venues and online participants are always able to schedule different days …. other than the official day … and still be included.  For instance, Mission Comics in San Francisco decided to hold their event on Saturday, September the 27th.

All we ask is that you notify us when you are planning on holding the event so that we can publicize it and officially count you.

24-Hour Comics Day – The IRONHAND Triathlon:

ComicsPRO staff is going to be at the Alternative Press Expo on October 4th helping Blitz Comics run a 24HCD event.

The event is called the IRONHAND 24HCD Triathlon.   We are setting up at Tables 1049-1052 from 11:00AM-7:00PM. Artists, writers, and curiosity seekers are invited to participate in this brand new evolution of the original 24-Hour Comics Day Challenge www.24hourcomicsday.com, which is a world-wide, yearly event with a simple goal: Create a 24 page comic in 24 consecutive hours.

The 24HCD – IRONHAND Triathlon breaks the 24 hours into 3 separate shifts. After each shift the artist can earn 1/3 of the special “Finishers Award”. When an artist completes 8 hours they earn and keep the “8 hour” piece. When they complete 16 hours, they earn and keep the “16 hour” piece. Then finally, at 24 hours, they receive the final piece and complete their award and the challenge!

If you are interested in joining us, please email contact@blitzcomics.com.  You are also welcome to join in even if you only want to draw for a short amount of time or if you want to find out more about the event.   Sponsored by ComicsPRO, the Trade Organization for Comic Book Retailers and Blitz Comics.  (Note:  The first eight hours will be at APE, the remaining 16 hours will be offsite).
